David Marcus was an Irish Jewish writer, born in County Cork in 1924. Among his most famous novels are A Land Not Theirs (1986) and A Land in Flames (1987), both narrating about the experiences of the Cork Jewish community. He is also known for being an editor of numerous anthologies of Irish poetry and short stories, supporting many of the beginning Irish writers. Published in 2001, his Oughtobiography – Leaves From The Diary Of A Hyphenated Jew reviews his life and work in the field of Irish literature.
He died in Dublin in 2009.
